Supreme Court strikes down law banning political clothing at polls

In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court struck down a Minnesota law that banned voters from wearing shirts, buttons, and other items with political messages to voting stations. The Court held that the law violated the First Amendment because it was too vague and did not clarify what kinds of clothing or slogans would be deemed too political to be worn to the polls.

Just like in the classic case, Tinker vs. Des Moines Independent School District, this new decision shows that political speech is still the most protected kind of speech under the Constitution--no matter if you are at school or at a voting station.
