Trump Issues Order Criminalizing Flag Burning

On August 25, 2025, President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing the U.S. Justice Department to prosecute individuals who burn the American flag, despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s rulings that flag burning constitutes legitimate political speech protected by the First Amendment.
